EV charging company moves to clamp down on charger hogs
·1 min
Sometimes, technology falls short of expectations. One electric vehicle charging company is testing a solution for those who hog the chargers. Fast chargers are designed to quickly pour electricity into an EV’s battery, allowing for shorter stops. However, charging slows down significantly after reaching 80% capacity to protect the battery. This can cause long wait times and frustration for other drivers. To address this issue, Electrify America has implemented a limit at 10 busy charging stations in California. Once a car reaches 85% charge, the driver must unplug or face additional fees. The aim is to alleviate congestion and ensure fair usage of the chargers.
